Position Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the facility, ensuring restrooms, common areas, and workspaces are well-kept. This role includes restocking supplies, handling waste, and addressing general maintenance needs. The Custodian also supports seasonal tasks and reports any facility issues to management.
The Custodian will report to the Facilities Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning, custodial duties and adhere to established routines and procedures.
- Clean, sanitize, and restock soap, paper towels, and other supplies in restrooms, kitchens, cafeterias, and common areas.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
- Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables in compactors.
- Manage inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Organize and maintain custodial storage areas.
- Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment.
- Assist with setting up meetings, special events, and other activities.
- Arm and disarm building security systems.
- Clear snow and apply salt to entryways during inclement weather or as needed.
- Lift and carry objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Maintain good interpersonal relationships with team members and occupants.
- Pay attention to detail and work independently.
- Report unsafe conditions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of three years’ custodial experience working in a commercial environment.
- Must be able to work a 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift – Monday through Friday.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. at least eight (8) times daily.
- Ability to sweep, scrub, vacuum, wax/dust floors, wash windows, move furniture, and climb stairs.
- Must be able to work out of doors in inclement weather, as required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work well with team members of every department and level within the company.
