Position Summary
The Soldering Associate is responsible for the assembly and inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs), focusing on soldering both Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole components. Responsibilities include precise placement and soldering of components and performing quality inspections and rework to ensure functionality and adherence to standards.
The Soldering Associate reports to the Production Manager.
Position Responsibilities:
- Solder through-hole components accurately using manual tools such as soldering irons.
- Solder wires onto PCBs as needed.
- Identify and correct assembly errors on both SMT and through-hole components through rework and repair.
- Inspect completed PCBs to verify proper solder joints, correct component placement, and overall functionality.
- Use visual inspection or automated equipment to meet quality standards.
- Follow detailed work instructions regarding component placement, soldering profiles, and quality expectations.
- Crosstrain in other production areas as needed, based on work schedule demands.
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- 3-5 years’ experience in wire soldering of electronic components on PCB’s
- Must be Quality oriented
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to understand and follow the production schedule
- Experience with both SMT and through-hole assembly techniques.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Familiarity with hand tools and soldering equipment.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment and follow production.
